ASSESSMENT

A Comprehensive OT assessment covering school, doctor, details in all the areas of

  • Gross motor skills (e.g. muscle tone, endurance, bilateral coordination and sequencing, joint stability)
  • Motor planning and ideation
  • Fine motor skills (e.g. in-hand manipulation, pincer/tripod grasp, finger isolation)
  • Visual perception
  • Sensory processing and modulation

to provide the therapist and family with an understanding of the child’s current overall development. The assessment will identify a child’s current strengths and challenges affecting their ability to fully participate in their everyday activities. 

 

Is this for your child?

Since this is standardized, your child has to be able to follow instructions and participate in a 1- to 3-hour-long assessment with a few breaks.

 

Included:

  • Free initial phone call /skype/ face time with an occupational therapist to discuss parent/teacher concerns.
  • A 3-hour assessment which can be completed in separate sessions
  • A report with a detailed review of the assessment results and observations and recommendations for school and home.

 

Follow-up phone consultation with parent and/or teacher to review report. 

CONSULTATION

An Initial Clinical Consultation is recommended for clients who hope to start the treatment process quickly, or those who have completed occupational therapy assessments in the past and may have reports available for review.

 

Included:

  • Free initial phone call with an occupational therapist to discuss parent/teacher concerns.
  • Pre-assessment preparation for an OT to review parents and teachers questionnaire and other reports.
  • 1 hour directing screening and observation with your child.
  • A brief report with findings from screening and observations, and recommendations for school and home. 

 

Follow-up phone consultation with parent and/or teacher to review report.

 

Occupational Therapy Assessment

TREATMENT

  1. Clinic-based OT sessions – scheduled for 1 hour appointments
  2. Home-based OT sessions – scheduled for 1 hour appointments

 

Both options include:

  • 45 to 50 minutes of direct treatment with your child, including transition time
  • 5 minutes of consultation with the parent for follow-up and to provide ideas/strategies to try at home

Goals and priorities for treatment are developed in collaboration with your family, based on your family’s identified areas of concern and need. Plus a review of the treatment goals after 6 months.

 

Please note that additional charges may be applied for travel time to home and community-based sessions.
